The first Spayaware event was held in 2002, when over twenty thousand unwanted dogs were euthanased in Ireland’s dog pounds. Twenty years later, in 2022, there were less than five hundred euthanased. Still too many, but huge progress. The image above is from Spayaware 2013: it’s been an annual fixture for a long, long time now.
