A working morning with Pete the Vet: short video from TV3’s Ireland AM

A vet clinic can be a busy place and it’s always interesting to see what’s going on. A few weeks ago, the Ireland Am camera crew called in on a Monday morning to see what was happening. They followed me around as I completed some of the daily tasks that are typical for vets:

  • First, I investigated the lameness of a Bulldog: this involved a physical examination, then general anaesthesia, followed by radiography (taking x-rays).
  • Second, I carried out the castration (neutering) of a Burmese tom cat: this involved sedation, followed by anaesthesia and surgery.

These two procedures are only a small part of a vet’s morning, but they give you a flavour of what it’s like to work as a vet.
