Why do vets charge so much? Pete Wedderburn in the Daily Telegraph online

Why are vets’ fees so high, and how can pet owners deal with this challenge? Last week, the Telegraph published an article about members of the public threatening vets and veterinary staff over the cost of treating pets. The response of people commenting on this article was interesting: instead of sympathy for the beleagured veterinary staff, there was more sympathy for the pet owners faced with high vet bills.

This is frustrating for vets, who feel that they are just doing their best for sick and injured animals: the fact that this can cost a lot of money is not their fault.
